HAPPY WORKOUT WEDNESDAY! Let's get a little primal today, while strengthening our bones ðŸ˜€ , with some JUMPING! Time to think about bone health and how we can build and strengthen our bones! As we age, they say that bone loss is a normal part of aging in both men and women. I wonder if part of the cause to bone loss is really just our sedentary lifestyle that is causing this serious health problem. Research says women start out with lower bone density and lose bone mass more quickly as they age then men do and this leads to osteoporosis in some women. Between the ages of 20 and 80, the average white woman loses one-third of her hip bone density, compared to a bone density loss of only one-fourth in men. Look at this data:
- 68 percent of the 44 million people at risk for osteoporosis are women.
- One of every two women over age 50 will likely have an osteoporosis-related fracture in their lifetime. That’s twice the rate of fractures in men — one in four.
- 75 percent of all cases of hip osteoporosis affect women.
However, each year, 80,000 men experience osteoporosis-related fractures. Could it be that if we move as we were designed to move each day, bone loss wouldn't occur? We know of populations in many parts of the world that do not experience osteoporosis as they age. Is it the lack of movement, poor diet, medications people take for other ailments that cause bone loss as a side effect, lack of natural sunlight each day? The American lifestyle is impacting negatively on so many areas of our lives. We need to think about what we can do to improve our bone density and overall health. Think about 10 to 15 minutes each day of jumping rope or jumping over logs, creek beds, anything you have in your yard, and you'll be doing your bones, body, and overall wellness a huge favor, as well as moving as we were intended to move each day. Let's change how Americans are living, and spread the word to move often and get the entire family jumping, skipping, crawling... moving!

Here's to jumping!  It's fun and free! Just jump!! ðŸ‘£ ðŸ’–
